Kansas River Bridge and Plaza Improvement projects
The roadway widening between Topeka and Lecompton is complete. Now, the KTA will begin making improvements at Plazas 202 and 204 and replacing the double Kansas River Bridge near Lawrence. The bridges will reach the end of their useful lives by 2012. Engineers are currently in the design phase for the replacements.

Driven by Vision: The Story of the Kansas Turnpike
The Kansas Turnpike is observing its 50th year in operation. On October 25, 1956, the KTA opened for business. That first day, 7,197 vehicles drove on the roadway. In 2006, the Turnpike served 32,755,932 customers.
