@iamPARTEE The Turnpike is 55+ yrs old. It pre-dates Interstate system. This was never a tax-supported road.

With the early spring and all the unexpected warm weather we are enjoying, orange barrels are coming. That’s right, the weather should remind us of the annual rite of orange barrels that go hand in hand with roadway construction.

There are historical markers at some of the Service Areas that show areas of interest. The Turnpike crosses the historic Santa Fe Trail near milepost 155 and the Oregon Trail near milepost 189.
