Summer Travel Tips

The weather is hot and the sun is out, which means summer travel is here! To help keep your travels smooth, keep these tips in mind as you hit the road:

  • Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle with water, food, flashlights, batteries and more.
  • Perform regular vehicle maintenance to prevent any roadside issues.
  • Call *KTA if you need roadside assistance on the Kansas Turnpike. The State Farm Safety Assist summer program is in full swing.
  • Check out www.kandrive.org for active roadway conditions and closures.
  • Keep an extra eye out since motorcycles are smaller than your average car.
  • Your K-TAG will work in Oklahoma and Texas, giving you the electronic rate.

Construction Report

The construction season is a busy one! If you’re ever wondering what a project is when you’re driving the roadway, our monthly construction report will give you the latest update.

K-TAG Tip of the Month

Make sure your account is “cleaned-up” for summer travel in these four ways:

  • Your payment method on file is up-to-date
  • Each K-TAG has an associated license plate
  • Old and unused K-TAGs have been deactivated
  • Your email and address are accurate

You can easily manage your K-TAG account online at www.myktag.com/login.

Run for the Wall

The Topeka Service Area on the Kansas Turnpike hosted hundreds of motorcyclists who traveled through Kansas from Ontario, CA to Washington D.C. for the annual Run for the Wall event. It recognizes the sacrifices and contributions made by veterans who have served our nation. The ride is designed to promote healing among veterans, their families and friends; to call for an accounting of all prisoners of war and those missing in action; to honor the memory of those killed in all wars; and support military personnel all over the world.

Run for the Wall motorcyclists stop at the Topeka Service Area during the 2022 event.
