Commercial Improvements

Moving commercial freight is important to us and to Kansas. This past week we recognized truck drivers during Truck Driver Appreciation Week. We continue making safety and roadway improvements with them in mind. In recent years, we’ve lengthened entry/exit ramps, increased truck parking at service areas, and constructed highway speed electronic lanes at our three toll plazas located on the roadway. Learn about two significant projects that benefit our commercial customers below.

Bridges

Increasing the vertical clearance of overhead bridges allows today’s oversized freight to move easier throughout Kansas. Since 2016, KTA has “raised” 51 bridges, with more planned in the future. Want to know how we can “raise” a bridge typically in under two months? Check out this video:

I-70 Interchange

Helping freight traffic move more efficiently through the I-70 and Turner Diagonal interchange in Kansas City is a goal of a partnership between KTA, KDOT, and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County. The new interchange improves safety and economic development efforts in that area of Kansas. Learn more about this project at www.theturnerdiagonal.com.
