Today, KTA learned some COVID-19 cases are linked to the Topeka Service Area, specifically the food court and restrooms. KTA and the service area providers are fully cooperating with the Shawnee County Health Department (SCHD) and KDHE.

SCHD recommends people who have visited the food court or used the restrooms of the service area after April 23rd are recommended to contact their primary care provider IF they develop symptoms associated with COVID-19 within 14 days from the date of their visit.

The facility is will remain closed while it is sanitized. Going forward, employees of the Service Area provider will have temperatures taken at the beginning of their shift and will be required to wear a mask. Daily deep-cleaning will continue.

April 13, 2020
With the CDC’s recommendation that everyone wear a mask when going out in public, KTA has made cloth masks available for all toll collectors. They are required to wear them in addition to gloves when working.

Service area providers at KTA’s six service area continue to frequently clean the building and employees are practicing good hygiene. Food continues to be available to those that must travel via drive-thru and carry out only. Self-serve food options are not available and dining rooms are closed. Fuel purchases and restroom facilities are also available.

April 9, 2020
Due to COVID-19 risk, the K-TAG Customer Service Call Center hours of operation will change Monday, April 13, 2020 to 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Customer Service Representatives will be working a modified schedule to better accommodate good social distancing. Customers may experience longer than normal hold times and are encouraged to update their accountorder K-TAGs and pay violations online. Walk-in centers located in Lawrence and Wichita also remain closed.

April 8, 2020
Since mid-March, the Kansas Turnpike has experienced a 60 percent drop in traffic and revenue. To stem costs during this time, the organization will be focusing on operational savings, including temporary furloughs for some employees. This will allow KTA to recover faster once traffic begins to return.

March 19, 2020
KTA has been working with providers at each of the six Service Areas along the Turnpike regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. While they remain open to help facilitate the movement of goods and services, they have closed their dining rooms. Customers can still walk-in for food pickup or use the drive-thru. Also, Kansas Wildlife, Parks & Tourism office has closed its Travel Information Center located in the Belle Plaine service area.

March 18, 2020
Starting March 18, 2020, the two K-TAG retail centers (Wichita and Lawrence) will close to the public until further notice in order to better serve our customers who are choosing to receive K-TAG customer service electronically, rather than in person. Due to anticipated longer hold-times when calling the Service Center, customers are encouraged to use online services when possible. K-TAG accounts can be updated and managed online at www.myktag.com/login. Violation payments can be made online at www.ksturnpike.com/violations. K-TAG Customer Service can also be reached by email at ktag@ksturpike.com.

March 16, 2020
Like many of you, KTA is closely monitoring the COVID-19 global pandemic. We invite you to join us in following state (KDHE) and national (CDC) health guidelines. If you are looking to minimize social interaction during this time, we recommend using a K-TAG or compatible transponder for travel on the Kansas Turnpike and managing K-TAG accounts online or via the myKTAG mobile app.
